The BLM Marketing & External Relations team is the innovative arm of the organisation in the provision of tailor-made marketing strategies. The team supports all BLM centres by motivating and directing clients to access BLM services. The team, in consultation with all other BLM teams, creatively devises strategies that assist in the dissemination of various SRH information, including family planning, STI services and HIV and AIDS information to communities.

Print and electronic media are some of the key avenues used to reach the targeted rural and urban communities with information. This is done through advertisements, radio programmes or written articles that explain developments within BLM.

The team also uses billboards to enhance BLM’s corporate image and to promote SRH products and services. The team is also responsible for the maintenance of a highly creative website, www.banja.org.mw , which is also interactive. Visitors to the site can make enquiries and receive feedback directly from the team.

The team is also instrumental in the facilitation of the BLM Medical Scheme under which BLM provides medical services to members of corporate organisations on credit basis. The team also coordinates the Medical Aid Society of Malawi (MASM) Scheme in all BLM’s 30 clinics.

The team is also committed to organising and patronising advocacy meetings held across the country.

The Contraceptive Social Marketing (CSM) Project continues to make positive strides towards the fight against STIs, unwanted pregnancies and HIV and AIDs in Malawi.  This has been evidenced by the growth of sales for Manyuchi condoms since the inception of the project in 2004. The marketing team which has been on the forefront managing this project is making BLM proud by being a model among other partners in Marie Stopes International.
