BANJA La Mtsogolo (BLM), one of the country's family planning and reproductive health service providers, has beaten its target in services delivery for last year.

BLM Management attributed the success story of BLM to, among others, staff's hard work.

They said this last Friday in Blantyre during a review meeting of BLM's performance for last year.

"Last year was the best ever in terms of performance as we have beaten our own expectation and target," they said. "This is due to the commitment of our employees and that's why we have decided to give them awards to encourage the winners and others to work even harder," they added.

According to BLM head of marketing Chifundo Malunga, the organisation recorded 7 percent above target in family planning, which is also 22 percent above 2006 statistics. Malunga said in Sexually Transmitted Infections treatment, they recorded 25 percent above the target, which is also 30 percent above 2006 records. "This has been achieved because we sensitise people to timely come for treatment in the case of STIs," Malunga said.

In the awards, Mponela Clinic of Dowa won the best clinic award for excelling in service delivery for key performance indicators such as number of clients, STIs treatment and general healthcare for the clinic.

BLM regional manager for the South Tiwonge Mhango got the best manager accolade while Edson Daudi, who is regional outreach support officer, was also awarded in his field.

Jonathan Kazembe was awarded as best sales representative while Gloria Chiwaya was recognised as nurse of the year. Matilda Mchenga got the best receptionist award.
